Top tips on managing your money

Many of us wish we could manage our money more effectively, but the thing is, a lot of us don’t do anything about it!

Well, it’s about time that changed. Managing your money effectively needn’t actually be that difficult. In fact, it can be easier than you think – just as long as you know what you’re doing.

Here are a couple of handy tips to help you manage your money more effectively:

Put your money in a bank account

The very first thing you should think about doing is making sure your money is safely stored in a bank account.

This may seem like a pretty simple and obvious tip, but you’d be surprised how many people fail to keep all of their money safe.

Even if you’ve got a bank account already, have a think about what it’s offering you. Is your bank rewarding you for keeping your money with them? If not, move to a bank that does reward you!

Of course, if you’re in debt – or have been in the past – you may find it difficult to get a bank account. This doesn’t mean you won’t be able to get a bank account, it just means that your choice may be slightly restricted.

In this case, you might want to look into getting a bad credit bank account. A bad credit bank account is basically a bank account for people with a poor/damaged credit rating.(¹)

Save any spare money you have

If you are left with any spare money at the end of every month (after covering all your costs, paying all your bills, etc.) you could put this money into savings.

By simply saving any spare money you have, you’ll soon build up a nice ‘reserve fund’ you can rely on if something was to go wrong (the car needs fixing, for example, or you have to pay for a boiler repair).
